Ode to a Sparrow
4From Bukit Brown’s Poet- in- Residence – a poem inspired by a little sparrow “captured” by Bukit Brown’s Photographer- in- Residence. Be inspired and be of good hope.
LITTLE SPARROW ON THE TREE
by Lim Su Min
What seeeth thou from up there,
Little sparrow on the tree
With thine tiny eyes thy vision cast
Across this cemetery?
Canst thou see the things unseen
Thousands upon thousands of souls in pain
Canst thou hear with thine tiny ears
Their plaintive cry for “peace again?
Little sparrow on the tree
Soar up to heaven to pray
To plead that these anguished souls
Would truely “Requiescite in pace” .
I like your poem! It was inspiring to think about how the little creatures get to enjoy the peace and special company in Bukit Brown.
I love sparrows… check out my link to see a sparrow’s banquet in Toa Payoh.
What a talent !
I’m trying to find inspiration to write an artist statement for a body of work for submission. If such talent is available, it will be nice.
You may contact Lim Su Min through the Facebook Group Heritage Singapore – Bukit Brown Cemetery, Francis
Care to tell me about your “body of work” Mr Siew?
